About Us

In the spring of 2010, the Jefferson City Convention and Visitors Bureau Athletic Events Committee held a retreat to address various issues concerning sporting events in Jefferson City.  Out of that meeting came many good ideas, one of which has recently come to fruition. The idea was for the CVB and AEC to look into forming a planning group for sports. Whereas the Athletic Events Committee is a group of volunteers that support events, this new group will be a group that actually plans and operates events.

In December, a group of events planners came together.  It was decided that the focus should be on outdoor and adventure sports. We are pleased to announce “Jefferson City Outdoors.”

The mission is “to provide outdoor recreational and competitive opportunities to encourage active lifestyles, community development, economic impact, and the enjoyment of our unique natural resources by our residents and visitors.”

Ultimately, we hope to increase the economic impact through additional visitors to our community.
